Cleaning For Your Diamond Jewelry - At Home

Cleaning For Your Diamond Jewelry - At Home

Diamonds are incredibly special, as their beauty and value remain eternal.

For this reason, diamond jewelry has become one of our most prized possessions.

With such strong longevity and durability, diamond jewelry continues to be an essential  staple in our wardrobe.

While it's true that diamonds last forever, it's important to note that they require minimal upkeep.

Oftentimes diamond jewelry, like an engagement ring, is worn everyday making it incredibly easy for dirt and grease to accumulate. When this happens, diamonds start to lose their brilliance and sparkle, as they have especially delicate surfaces.

However, the solution to combating dirty and dull diamond jewelry is very simple. In fact, the best proven cleaning solution involves two basic ingredients, water and dishwasher detergent/soap.

In order to effectively clean diamond jewelry, place warm (almost hot) water in a small bowl. Next place your jewelry in the bowl, and add a few drops of mild dishwasher detergent or soap.

It’s important to note that ingredients found in household cleaners, like bleach and acetone, should be completely avoided as they can be extremely damaging. For this reason, it's vital to choose a detergent/soap that is non-chemical and free of fragrances and dyes.

After putting a few drops of the detergent/soap, gently mix and let the jewelry sit for about 30-40 minutes. As the jewelry sits, you should begin to see the accumulated dirt lift off the surface and rise to the top of the bowl. When it's time to take the jewelry out, be sure to gently dry with a soft lint free towel.

Additionally, if after drying you still see excess dirt you can gently clean it off with a soft and clean toothbrush. The toothbrush should be used with caution, as it will allow you to clean in hard-reach-places.

This at home cleaner can be done once or week or once a month, depending on how quickly your diamond jewelry gets dirty. By following this simple cleaning solution, your diamond jewelry will be sure to never lose its sparkle.
